Philadelphia PowerPlay

The Philadelphia Flyers PowerPlay are a power wheelchair floor hockey team based in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Power wheelchair floor hockey, more commonly known as Powerhockey, is played by people who use power wheelchairs in their everyday lives. Powerhockey is mainly played on a basketball court with modified lightweight sticks and a wiffle ball substituted for a puck. The primary source of strength and speed involved in the sport comes from the power wheelchair. Powerhockey is for participants of all genders and skill levels. The Flyers PowerPlay team is made up of about 25 players with various disabilities, including but not limited to Muscular Dystrophy, Cerebral Palsy, and Spinal Cord Injuries. The Flyers PowerPlay are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has been providing an athletic and social opportunity for people with disabilities since 2003.
