LA City Recreation and Parks
The Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks (RAP) is one of the largest municipal park systems in the United States, operating hundreds of parks, recreation centers, pools, sports programs, and nature facilities across the city.
It is a government-run recreation system, not a nonprofit or single program provider.
Adaptive & inclusive recreation
LA Parks includes Therapeutic Recreation Services (TRS), which supports people with disabilities through:
- ♿ adaptive sports programs
- 🎨 inclusive arts and enrichment classes
- 🏀 adapted fitness and group sports
- 🧑🤝🧑 social recreation programs for youth and adults
- 🏊 accessible swim and aquatics programming
- 🌳 community outings and park-based recreation
These programs are typically run through local recreation centers across the city rather than one central location.
